Lars Mikkelsen-3-1024x657Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen, born 6 May 1964, is a Danish actor. He has played Copenhagen mayoral election candidate Troels Hartmann in the drama series The Killing.The Killing, Charles Augustus Magnussen in the third series of Sherlock and the Russian president Viktor Petrov in the American House of Cards on Netflix, and Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels. He was awarded the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011 at the age of 27. In 1995, he was accepted to the National Theatre School of Denmark. In addition to his role in the drama series that was released globally as The Killing He was later featured in two more internationally well-known Danish dramas, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He also played a central part in the episode of BBC drama Sherlock, where he played the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American TV show House of Cards he played the president of Russia. In the year 2018, he took home an International Emmy Award for his part in the Danish television drama Herrensveje. The show was telecast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in the year 2019.
