Dolly-Parton
Born on Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn into a poverty-stricken family which would later comprise 12 kids Dolly Parton learned early to overcome the challenges of her life through her vivid and far-ranging imagination. Before she could write or read, she had already composed her own music. After 8 years of age, she got her first guitar. At age 11 she started singing at Knoxville Tenn's local radio station. The following the year that Gold Band Records was a tiny independent record label. While she was popular in the local scene while she was at high school, her dreams were bigger. In 1964, the day after her high school graduation the singer moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female vocalist for his show that was syndicated from the beginning. Parton got her first gig in 1967 she signed with RCA Records by 1968, and was a part of the Grand Ole Opry. She left Wagoner's show, however, in 1974 due to her albums on her own like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene outsold their collaborations. Following their breakup, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it climbed to the top spot at No. The first time it reached No. 1 was 1974.
